Faciendo Radio Episode 016 – Tribe Mix

February 22nd, 2012

Played at 14:00h EST (Montreal & NYC time) & 20:00h CEST (Paris time) on Wednesday February 22nd, 2012.

This week a Faciendo Tribe Mix done together with – Dory Kim (USA), Tom Morgan (UK), Desyn Masiello (UK), Vadim Yershov (NOR), Bal Erik (NOR), Kla Us (GER), & Stuart Johnston (UK).

Faciendo are a tribe of “musical shamans” and “mix scientists”, working together to inspire, educate and spread love through the air waves. The group’s primary focus is a series of mix compilation CDs, crossing many genres of electronic music, but each with the same goal: to represent the true “art” of a DJ mix, where all the pieces of the mix fit together in absolute harmony, and a truly new experience is created from the union of the tracks.

Alongside this, Faciendo Radio, their bi-weekly show, serves as a platform to showcase their mixing ethos with the latest sounds around the world, and also give the listener a glance into the past from the group’s musical history of timeless gems and forgotten classics. The format of the show may alternate each episode:from the club-oriented, where you’ll hear the house and techno they’re renowned for, to the more eclectic, airing the freshest in downtempo, disco, dubstep, drum n bass and whatever else that moves you.

Motion avec ROUX Soundsystem – Cobra Edition

February 18th, 2012

Live Event at 22h EST (Montreal & NYC time) on Saturday February 18th, 2012.

Roux Soundsystem take over the decks tonight at Daomé for their monthly Motion night – tune in tonight starting at 10pm OR send your full name to clifford@mirrorballs.ca before 6pm for 1$ entrance!

ROUX Soundsystem is formed of redbeards Clifford Brown and Marinelli, whose common love for house tech and good company naturally brought them together. This dynamic tag-team is not to be missed at Salon Daomé’s Motion monthly.

Over the past year they have played at all of Montreal’s illegal afterparties, consumed an extraordinary amount of vodka/guru, and inspired thousands of people to dance – all without much sleep! These incorrigible guys from back East weave ethnic influences into their tech and are crusading to make “Groove” their legal family name.

Here’s Marinelli’s latest mix:

February 17th, 2012

Live Event at 22h EST (Montreal & NYC time) on Friday February 17th, 2012.

Arthur Oskan bio: As a teenager, Arthur Oskan began immersing himself in a variety of musical styles. During this time he listened to and soaked in information about studio gurus like Georgio Moroder, Vince Clark and Alan Wilder, and industrial bands such as Nitzer Ebb, Cetu Javu, and Front 242. In his quest to quench his appetite for synthetic music he eventually purchased his own EPS Sampler, a TR-606 drum machine, a Roland JX3P and a 4-Track. These early years of training proved invaluable as they provided him with a solid foundation for his budding studio prowess.

Vincent Lemiux bio: For almost a decade, Vincent Lemieux has played an integral role in Montreal’s internationally acclaimed dance-music community. Lemieux is man who wears many different hats: curator, label owner, DJ, producer, taste-maker… this is a man who has done it all and inflected every project in his association with an indelible personal style.

Internationally, Vince is probably best known as one of the curators behind Montreal’s MUTEK Festival. Since 2000, he has helped shape his hometown conception of progressive electronic music through the acts he brings to town. When not programming the festival, Lemieux hosts two of the most cutting-edge techno weeklies in the city. His long-running Tuesday night at Salon Daomé, where he DJ’s alongside world-class talent, has become a staple in Montreal’s nightlife. Claude Von Stroke, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Zip, Sammy D, they’ve all graced the decks at Daomé courtesy of Vince.

Rising Soul Sessions with Jonny Marciano

February 17th, 2012

Played at 14:30h EST (Montreal & NYC time) & 20:30h CEST (Paris time) on Friday February 17th, 2012.

Its Friday and its time to get those dancing shoes on and ready for the weekend! Montreal’s Jonny Marciano delivers his Rising Soul Sessions together with Peter Bailey all the way from New York City. Enjoy the two hour session and have an amazing weekend!

Jonny Marciano bio: Since his debut at Stereobar in winter 2008, Dj Jonny Marciano has developed a reputation for his signature sound: Deep, Dark and Dirty! Having played along side several of Montreal’s top DJs, Mr. Marciano continues to grow and evolve musically. He has his infamous bi monthly podcast…continued on http://djjonnymarciano.podomatic.com/.

Peter Bailey bio: Not very long ago, quite a transformation was taking place in New York City. The techno and acid house surge in the early 1990’s caught the imagination and inspired some of the most sharpest and talented music minds around today. Peter Bailey was among those hanging in the throngs of iconic places such as Sound Factory and Limelight listening to DJs like Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia and Louie Vega and sure enough, the experiences of this young, wide-eyed aspiring DJ/producer is the foundation of what has now become a stellar career.

Thriving off of the energy of the musical surge, Peter found himself playing alongside some dance music heavyweights. His earliest DJing experiences had him playing with dance music legends such as Joey Beltram, Kevin Saunderson, Sven Vath and Jeff Mills, even playing at one of Frankie Bones’ highly acclaimed Storm Raves. Along the way, Peter’s exposure to these surroundings kept feeding his ambition to try more, learn more. Peter needed to take it to the next level, not merely playing other people’s music, but creating his very own.
