Danse Contact w/ Maus & Krista Live @ Salon Daomé

Play & I Love Neon bring you the second edition of their bi-monthly night called Danse Contact. Thanks to Christian Farley for breaking the ice during round 1 on July 21st.
This time Krista takes the decks after a 7 year absence from the Montreal dance floors and Maus continues the party from 12:30 on.
Editor’s Note: I had the privilege of winning a Krista mixtape CASSETTE back in ’99 and was driving around with it all summer until my Honda Civic was stolen…good times! I remember Thomas Krone’s The Real Jazz was on that mix.

DJ Krista began her DJ career as the rave scene began its love affair with Montreal, back in the early 90s.
She honed her skills at barely legal loft parties with the likes of Autechre and DJ Wink, in the big, sweaty Toronto warehouse parties put on by Syrous crew, and at the club formerly known as Le Lezard. She went on to hold residencies at Playground, one of the cities’ first legal afterhours clubs, as well as Jai Bar, and legendary Montreal nightclubs Sona and Stereo.
From the mid-90s to the early 00s, Krista was regularly called to play in cities across North America and even moved to that wondrous ‘City-by-the-Bay’ for a year to work for a label and play records on the beach. Krista also lived briefly in the UK, and more recently in Toronto. She has worked as a freelance writer, and label manager and rep – in addition to DJing and other things. She is, for now, back in her native Montreal, and she is looking forward to seeing you on the dancefloor.

Tonight for their monthly LaPalma, the residents Green & LaTeez welcome Montreal duo EZLV to share the decks with them at Daomé. EZLV just got back from a European tour where they also had a chance to play the Piknic Électronik event in Barcelona. Samedi le 4 août, nous sommes fière de vous présenter à notre soirée LA PALMA, le tandem EZLV. Un duo deep house montréalais qui ne laisse personne indifférent. Le duo revient d’un séjour en Europe où ils ont pu faire découvrir leur son. Ils ont d’ailleurs eu la chance de jouer au Piknic Électronik à Barcelone.
Pour ceux qui ne les connaissent pas, je crois que c’est le temps pour vous de les découvrir. C’est pas compliqué, il n’y a qu’une place à être le samedi 4 août et c’est au Salon Daomé.
Biographie
de EZLV:
Ezekiel and Louis Vee, aka ‘Ezlv’ met in prison back in 1982. Ezekiel was sent to jail because he molested Michael Jackson’s monkey ‘Bubble’. Louis Vee was caught wearing Ms. Thatcher’s wedding dress. They instantly decided to form a duo.
Louis Vee learned the musical complexity the hard way; he was playing with toothbrushes and Tupperware while taking a bath at the age of 4 years old. Ezekiel started playing with synths and drum machine when he sold his computer company in 1978 to a guy name ‘Bill Gates’. Thus, they added Louis Vee’s skills and Ezekiel’s intuition to release top notch music today.
Ezlv’s music has been played in two famous places; in OJ Simpson’s Bronco or in Ezekiel’s walkman (numerous times). They are supported by Louis’s mom and colonel Sanders’s private pilot.

Tonight at Daomé the Fizz Factory crew invites Toronto’s Kian & Mazi who make up Nature of Music. Get ready for a pan-Canadian adventure on this one! Nature of Music have played alongside deep house acts such as Tigerskin, Anja Schneider, Nima Gorji, Dirt Crew, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Eddie Richards, Paul Ritch and recently, Vincenzo. They have also partied to many of the Fizz Factory nights and share a similar vision of what ‘groove’ should be.
Ce mois-ci on vous présente nos potes de Toronto Kian et Mazi. Ensemble ils forment le duo choc Nature of Music.
Très actifs dans la ville du Temple de la renommée du hockey, ils présentent mensuellement des artistes tels Tigerskin, Anja Schneider, Nima Gorji, Dirt Crew, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Eddie Richards, Paul Ritch et tout récemment, Vincenzo. Plusieurs d’entre eux sont aussi venus à Fizz Factory ou Beat Boutique depuis les dernières années.
On partage avec eux une vision similaire du groove, c’est donc un excellent match qui nous attend le 9 mars!

ROUX Soundsystem is formed of redbeards Clifford Brown and Marinelli, whose common love for house tech and good company naturally brought them together. This dynamic tag-team is not to be missed at Salon Daomé’s Motion monthly.
Over the past year they have played at all of Montreal’s illegal afterparties, consumed an extraordinary amount of vodka/guru, and inspired thousands of people to dance – all without much sleep! These incorrigible guys from back East weave ethnic influences into their tech and are crusading to make “Groove” their legal family name.
